Eiffel Tower Celebrates Its 130th Anniversary in 2019
What do you consider to be the signature architecture in France? Eiffel Tower! It’s pretty true. Following the joy from Louvre Pyramid ‘s 30th Anniversary, Eiffel Tower celebrates its 130th Anniversary now. Paris is at its very hot atmosphere during this memorable year of 2019.
Look back some brief history about this very high tower, the Eiffel Tower. It was built by engineer Gustave Eiffel on 31 March, 1889, with height of 300 meters. There are 1,665 steps from the ground floor to the top. This huge project took 2 years, 2 months and 5 days to build and assemble. In fact, it was envisioned as the centerpiece for Paris World Fair, held in 1889 as a symbol for the centenary of French Revolution. Initially, the Eiffel Tower was the world’s highest man-made architecture until the Chrysler Building was built in New York in 1930. It was believed to last for 20 years. However, it has witnessed the evolution of the different period of Paris for more than a century. Since its’ inauguration in 1889, there are around 7 million visitors each year and has been accumulated to nearly 250 million in total.
Tourists may not know the functions of the Eiffel Tower, In the past, it was used for many scientific experiments. Currently, it serves as a transmitter of radio and television programs.
